Smith Murphy Family Trees

We greatly appreciate the extensive research and data collection by blue branch member Tom Loughlin. He has created some incredible family trees!

For those of you who are new to learning your family history, this whole branch starts with Samuel Smith and Bridget Murphy, married on April 3, 1883 in Newport, Rhode Island.  They had 8 children, 2 of whom died at a young age. The branches, leaves and sprouts attending the reunions are all descendants of Sam and Bridget's other six children.

When the first Smith Murphy reunion was orchestrated in 1996, the organizers assigned colors to represent the descendants of those six children, and the rest is history!

In chronological order, here are the six colors of the first generation descending from Sam and Bridget:

TEAL: Anna Marie Smith Faerber (1885-1964)

YELLOW: Samuel W. Smith, Jr. (1889-1962)

PURPLE: Jayne Eleanor Smith Barber (1891-1967)

BLUE: Mary Alice Smith Carr (1894-1994)

GREEN: John Louis Smith (1897-1988)

RED: Gertrude Corinne Smith (1902-2000)
